what i’m loving right now.

Hellooooo loves. Happy Christmas Eve Eve! :)

You may have already seen most of these things if you follow me on Instagram, but here’s a little wrap up and more details behind what I’m loving right now.

Making It Happen mug
I have this issue where I can’t go Christmas shopping without getting a little something for myself, so when I was in Urban Outfitters the other day I just had to snag this Making It Happen mug.

Since it’s an inspiration to have a productive day, I can consider it an investment in my future…right?

bright & bold lips.
I’ve always loved the idea of wearing bright and bold lip colors, but I usually end up going back to the safe zone of my go-to nudes and light pinks. This winter, though, I’ve finally been experimenting with some more fun lip shades. My favorites right now are orangey reds and deep plums.

Imoji app
Within the first 5 minute of discovering this app, I sent probably about 20 stickers to my friends. Each. There are some seriously hilarious stickers and you can even make your own! Sorry regular old Emojis, there’s a new cool kid in town.

New Girl
I know I know, New Girl is basically a classic at this point. BUT, I just fell in love with it all over again (and started from season 1 again). As much as I love getting hooked on new TV shows, sometimes life is too busy to make that investment. So I like to have some go-to’s to fall back on - ones that I know I can watch without having to get too into it, but still get a good laugh.

Not to mention I’m all sorts of smitten with Nick Miller. Schmidt has his moments too.

Beyond Sushi
I may be a meat eater, but there is no meat missed when it comes to Beyond Sushi’s insanely good vegan creations.

(I know I just posted about this last week, but it’s my blog and I can double-share what I want to ;))

I always get the exact same thing - their Sweet Tree roll + Nutty Buddy wrap. SO GOOD, you guys.

my imaginary Christmas home
Maybe I should be blaming my Christmas Pinterest board for the lack of Christmas spirit in my life this year. Because let’s be real…This will never happen in NYC on homegirl’s current income.

Skinny Hot Chocolate
BUT - thankfully their are much more inexpensive ways to bring Christmas into this closet-sized apartment of mine, and over the weekend it came in the form of Skinny Hot Chocolate, a la Dashing Dish. I made myself a little single serving version, and it was so good! Definitely hit the sweet tooth spot without feeling like I OD’ed on sugar.

What’s something you’re loving right now? What’s your fallback/go-to TV show?

style: not-so-ugly christmas sweater.

With events like Santacon and ugly Christmas sweater parties, the holiday season has become like one big theme party.

I’m so in favor of that.

And thanks to retailers wanting to cash in on the trend, I’ve seen a handful of “ugly” (but actually cute) Christmas sweaters in stores this season.

I love any and every opportunity to be festive around the holidays, so I couldn’t help myself from grabbing this adorable Snoopy Christmas sweater I saw in the window of Wet Seal a few weeks ago.

Did you go to any ugly Christmas sweater parties this year?

style: statement making with Ben Amun.

A few weeks ago I went to a fun blogger brunch at the Ben Amun showroom here in NYC. They spoiled the other bloggers and I with delicious coffee, drinks, and a Chobani bar.

But the highlight of the brunch was obviously the stunning jewelry. I’ve been familiar with Ben Amun for about a year now as my best friend Jessi has been doing their social media, and I’m just such a huge fan of their pieces. I love just about any and all statement jewelry, and Ben Amun makes some of the best I’ve seen.

I was even once able to go in the back and see where they actually make the jewelry, and it was so incredible. Each piece is custom made and assembled by hand. So much detail and attention goes into each and every piece.

As part of the event, we were able to make our own custom Ben Amun jewelry. I was like a kid in a candy store, to say the least.

We got to choose from a few different designs, but I went with the City Scapes Skyscraper necklace. I got to pick out all of the gems and detailing of my necklace, and a few weeks later my custom necklace arrived in the mail. It was a very welcome early Christmas present, to say the least!

Thanks so much to Ben Amun! I can’t wait to wear my new necklace over the holidays :)

Please note I was not compensated for this post other than by receiving the necklace. All opinions herein are my own.

What’s your favorite type of jewelry to wear? Do you prefer statement or minimal/simple pieces?

style: that’s a wrap.

And just like that, it’s freezing outside.

I can’t say I hate it, though, because I love the chance to throw on leggings, boots, a cute sweater and call it a day.

This season I’ve really been loving vests, so I was especially excited when my friend (and designer) Kristine started making these Cashmere Wool Wrap Vests. How cute is this?

I love the style but also functionality of the wrap vests. One size fits all, and they can be worn three ways (open, belted, or pinned). There are also two different styles - a camel one and another plaid print.

(The vests are selling for $350 in stores, but Kristine is offering a special holiday sale right now for $80 each. Check them out here.)

style: ready {set} go.

This look is brought to you by two things I never thought I’d wear.

1) a co-ord set
2) a tight crop top

Let’s start with the co-ord. I’ve been a huge fan of this look for a while, but my short stature always kept me away from it. Too much print is usually way overwhelming my measly 5’3″ self. But when I saw this black and white dogtooth print, I thought it might be a good one to experiment with.

And then there’s the crop top. I actually do wear crop tops here and there in the warmer seasons, but I usually stick to a more loose/flowy one. Tight crop tops are much less forgiving, for obvious reasons. I love it with this set, though, and it doesn’t feel too showy because I have the “safety” of the big faux fur coat over it.

The best part? This whole look (minus the jewelry) is definitely #TrendyNotSpendy! Almost every piece is from Boohoo.com, which I’m such a huge fan of. They have so many great clothes at reasonable prices.

Are you a fan of co-ords? What about crop tops?

style: crane & lion activewear {+ giveaway}.

Let me be honest with you for a second. Even though I love fitness and I love fashion, for a while I could never fully get on board with the whole higher end activewear trend that has appeared over the past few years. I didn’t understand how it could be that much better than the workout clothes I’ve been wearing for so long.

…until now. Seriously. I totally get it.

I never realized how much my crappy not-so-haute exercise clothes cramped my style. Because of the look and cheap material, I’d find myself going directly to and from the gym, and then changing to go back out again. But now I’m learning that the right activewear can actually be a huge timesaver because I can squeeze in errands and even meetings before and after my workouts.

Crane & Lion activewear

In addition to making my life easier, I was surprised by how much quality activewear makes me feel so much better. Unlike my college gym shorts and an old t-shirt, fitted/feel-good workout clothes motivate me more to kick butt at the gym.
