Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan
It’s no secret that I love me some sunless tanning products (I made a video about it here). So I was totally down to check out Cocoa Brown 1 Hour sunless tanner when they offered to send me some to give a try.
The verdict – I love it! It applies really smooth and easily and dries almost instantly, then the tan develops in about one hour. It also has a great natural shade – bronze and not orangey.
I also loved Tough Stuff, which is a great body exfoliator to use in the shower. It left my skin feeling super soft and really helps the sunless tanner “stick” to your skin better.
Progessence Plus
I mentioned in my Whole30 recap that I had been on the birth control pill for hormonal issues and recently went off of it, so I’ve been trying a more holistic approach. My good friend Emily knows a ton about essential oils and highly recommended I try Progessence Plus. I’ve read great things about using it for hormonal imbalances and other benefits. I just started using it so can’t speak for any big results (yet), but I have already noticed feeling more relaxed after using it, as well as sleeping better.
(If you’re interested in learning more about essential oils I’d love to put you in touch with Emily - you can email me at gracie@girlmeetslife.com)
Jergens BB Body Skin Cream
I’m a huge fan of Jergens products (their Natural Glow is one of my favorites) so I was excited to try their new BODY BB cream. This is the first BB cream for your body that I’ve come across. It’s supposed to instantly hydrate and illuminate, and within 5 days even, firm, and correct your skin. I’ve definitely noticed the immediate effects, and in general my skin does seem to have a more even complexion.
Elizabeth Arden UNTOLD ABSOLU
I was recently sent this new fragrance from Elizabeth Arden to try out, and I love it! The scent is very glamorous, luxurious and warm – it has an amber base with hints of floral and fruity tones – perfect as we enter into the holidays and cooler weather. You can find it at Macy’s or on ElizabethArden.com!
And guess what? I’m giving away a bottle of UNTOLD ABSOLU to one lucky reader!

I love amber based scents, so I will have to try to get a sample of that!
Let me know how you the essential oils helps with your hormones. I went on BC for the same reason, but it seemed to only make things worse : /
I try my best to stay hydrated—both by drinking lots of water and tea, but also using lots of lotion! I can already feel my hands getting dry—so I’m constantly putting lotion on and wearing gloves outside. Wisconsin winters can be brutal!
I change up my beauty routine in the winter by using more intensive lotions, to combat extra dry skin.
I become a chapstick-aholic! I hate the feeling of dry lips, especially living in the midwest and being an outdoor runner all year round. I just recently became a “perfume chick”, and I think I might try this one out!
I use different face and body lotion, and also use a different shampoo. My skin gets really dry in the winter and can get really painful at times.
Well, Florida doesn’t get much of a winter.. so everything stays about the same! Lol but when it does get colder, I just make sure to moisturize more - my skin and lips!
I change up my routine by applying additional moisturizer throughout the day to keep flaky skin at bay!
I use oil (loving Josie Maran’s Argan oil) underneath my daily moisturizer. Makes a huge difference. At night, I stick with Clinique’s repairwear night, which I use year-round (pricy, but seriously makes your skin like buttah. And lasts a long time).
I change up my beauty routine by - less is more! Making sure I moisturize my skin - I Live in MN and winters are ROUGH on the skin! Adding in some self tanner is great - I’m going to have to try your recommendations! xo
Definitely lots of lotion in the winter!!
I would love to try that new perfume!
i use SO much extra moisturizer and oils- on my cuticles, skin, lips (!), feet (!!!). i also move away from floral fragrances, so this would be divine! xx
I try to be good about moisturizing year round, but I’m especially strict about it during the winter. It’s the only thing that saves my hands from all the cold, dry air!
I use a new moisturizer that has coconut oil in it. Keeps my skin from drying out in the winter!
I change up my routine by buying all sorts of Chapstick and body lotion. I also use a lot more self tanner as I can no longer tan outside!
My skin gets super dry in the winter! I buy unfiltered jojoba oil in bulk at a local natural grocery store and mix it in with my regular lotion to amp up the moisture level. I also put some in my baths at night. so luxurious!
Oh my gosh, I LOVE that fragrance! I’ve been looking for a new one and just discovered it via swatch in my magazine. Obsessed.
I change up my ritual in the winter by moisturizing sooo much more. I use face masks more, and also use heavier lotions on my body. This winter/fall, I’ve also added MUAC mandelic peel to fight acne scars on my face, a chamomile night cream, and homemade sugar scrubs with coconut oil and herbs for my body.
I always wear warmer (as opposed to floral) scents in the winter. I also make sure to moisturize even more than ever before.
I try to stay hydrated and use moisturizer daily in the winter.
In the winter I change up my beauty routine by using a more moisturizing face cream and exfoliating more often! Works wonders for my skin!
My hair loves the winter (naturally curly and frizzy) but my skin: not so much. I try to keep hydrated and I use SO MUCH LOTION!
I definitely start moisturizing in the winter.
I love love love winter. I have very curly hair so I can only straighten it in the winter, so I spend a lot of time straightening and making wavy tresses! Also, love going from a light floral scent to a deep warm one. Armani Code has been a long time fav!
I use a argan oil under my moisterizer to prevent flaky skin!
I need extra lotion/moisture for my legs and hands in the colder months. I also use different scents in the winter than I do in the summer.
all about lotions and extra exercise :]
amping up exfoliation to slough off dry flakes
I really need to experiment with fun colored lipsticks! I’m always too afraid to try them out
I moisturize often and make sure to drink extra water!
I would love to try that body BB cream! I have to get some!
I use even MORE lotion and moisturizer!!! Thanks for the chance to win!
I use more moisturizer to keep my skin smooth and hydrated.
I switch to a thicker face cream since my skin is really dry - it helps a lot!
More lotion for dry skin!
I change up my beauty routine by going for a berry lip, voluminous lashes and add some extra oomph to my hair!
Lotion lotion lotion!!!
In the winter I use a lot more leave-in conditioner to keep my hair from drying out in the cold weather!
As a blonde like you, I really have to focus on moisturizing and staying hydrated. The winter can be really drying and my sensitive skin really takes a hit. I apply a thick moisturizer to my skin at night, Cetaphil is the jar really does the trick. In the morning, I apply a tinted moisturizer all over the face. I also apply a serum to my ends to keep the static down and also prevent the straw like texture blonde hair gets in colder temps. Drinking water gets harder in the winter because I love really cold water but I try to get 10 large cups in before dinner.
Its great to read through the comments and get ideas from others on their winter routine.
Thank you!
I start using facial moisturizer and lip balm like nobody’s business. I also transition from a rosy pink blush to a dusty brown/pink one and from bright pink lipstick to red.
I up my moisturizer game. I use a beeswax/vitamin e combo and keep a rosewater hydrating spray at my desk to keep my skin hydrated all day!
I add a high-quality, extra thick hand and feet lotion to my routine!
Living in the Deep South (less than an hour drive from the Gulf of Mexico), we don’t have to battle harsh winters. For that reason I don’t really change my beauty routine. During the few cold days we have I will use heavier moisturizers and a lip balm (I normally have no need for a lip balm).
