chocolate chip maple walnut ice cream.

Last night I wanted ice cream.

None of that fro-yo stuff. Real, creamy, full-fat ice cream.

Luckily I found one mini-tub of vanilla ice cream stashed in the freezer. Instead of digging right in, though, I decided to kick things up a notch.

ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 ounce walnuts, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon dark chocolate chips

Let the ice cream sit out in a bowl for a few minutes until it softens. Mix in the maple syrup until well combined. Then mix in the walnuts and chocolate chips. Place back in the freezer for at least 15 minutes.

Simple, delicious, and serves one.

Bing, bang, boom.

What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?

Cookies-n-cream! Which I thought I would never get to eat again.. but thanks to a $7.00 ice cream maker from the clearance section of Target and gluten-free imitation oreos it’s become possible :) Oh and peppermint, which I’ve loved since I was 3! PS: That ice cream looks incredible btw

you have way more patience then I do - if I saw that ice cream in my freezer I would have had at it! But.. your end result is much tastier then plain old vanilla!

My favorite ice cream flavor is coffee!

Mint chocolate chip for me! Unfortunately, I can’t have dairy and therefore can’t have the inexpensive, ‘normal’ ice cream. Thankfully, Whole Foods provides a dairy free-with a soy substitute-ice cream that allows me to enjoy without the bellyache afterwards. Thank you Whole Foods and soy substituted ice cream! :)

YUM! I have a few favorites, so bear with me. :)

    Turkey Hill Philadelphia-style Vanilla Bean

Blue Bunny Super Chunky Cookie Dough

    Baskin-Robbins Pralines ‘n Cream

Hershey’s Century Sunday* and Moose Tracks
    * cookies ‘n cream with a ripple of peanut butter throughout. Sadly, it’s no longer made.

    I <3 ice cream!!!

I love mint chocolate chip too-but like Alex I can’t have dairy so soy ice cream it is. I also love coffee and peanut butter chocolate flavors..yum!

What an awesome idea! I think my favorite flavor of ice cream is either something with PB or pumpkin ice cream. Sometimes I actually mix pureed pumpkin with a scoop (or two) of vanilla ice cream. Tastes so good!

That sounds delicious! I wanted ice-cream yesterday, so I stopped by a local ice-cream shop and had non-dairy caramel oreo ice-cream. I LOVE fresh made ice-cream! And I love any kind with oreos in it. :)

I love remixing plain ol’ vanilla (although it’s pretty delicious ‘naked’ too). My favorite will always be cookie dough but I’d like to think I’m an equal opportunist- I’ll give all flavors a shot!

I was really craving ice cream last night too! We went out and I got my usual, chocolate chip cookie dough. But I kinda wanted to switch it up a bit so I got peanut butter sauce on top. Sounded kinda weird but it was BANGIN!

I’ve never thought about making “plain” vanilla ice cream fancier by adding things to it, but it’s a brilliant idea (the pictures also make me want ice cream now)! My favorite ice cream flavor is cookie dough, classic and never fails to impress. Plus, it’s definitely a flavor you could make at home :)

I love cookies and cream and Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked. Or basically any ice cream with a ton of cookie or candy mix ins. My hubby gets mad b/c if we buy a carton of ice cream I am known to just sit with a spoon and pick all of the mix ins out and leave him w/ none. :)

My favorite ice cream flavors are Cookies N’ Cream, Peanut Butter, and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.
I love that you added maple syrup to your ice cream. I’ll have to give that a try sometime! 😀

I have to say that last week I totally devoured a container of Turkey Hill’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. I really don’t like chocolate, but the pieces were so small, that I barely tasted it. Plus it had a lot of dough pieces which some other brands TOTALLY lack. Healthy or not, ice cream is WAY to delicious to not eat : )

Any ice cream that involves chocolate and peanut butter in any combination is my favorite for sure. And the ridiculously chocolate ones with brownie bits. Oh baby. I’m going to have to try this add-in concept, though. This could be a game changer.
