crispy, creamy, and crazy.

I don’t think it’s any secret that I love to review just about anything and everything. I’m an opinionate gal, what can I say? So here are three new reviews – all quite different from each other – and each lending to the sassy little title of this post.

First up…

Crispy Cat Toasted Almond Bar.

I randomly grabbed this bar from my favorite natural food store a few weeks ago, and it quickly became my new favorite treat. The inside is a crispy Luna-like bar but with chunks of almonds throughout, and the outside is coated with a thick layer of dark chocolate.

I found it to be a very hearty bar (especially after refrigerating it), which is why I was sort of surprised when I noticed the “candy bar” label on it.

After checking out the stats and noticing that it didn’t really have much nutritional value at all, I guess the candy bar title makes sense. But, I can’t say I ever met a candy bar I didn’t like, so this one is GML approved.

Coppertone Oil Free Sunscreen.

As important as it is to me to protect my skin from the sun, I’ve got to say that I generally despise the texture/smell/overall disgustingness of sunscreen. Luckily Coppertone got it all sorts of right when they came out with this oil free lotion.

It’s super light-weight and not at all sticky like most sunscreens. I also like the fact that I might not end up with pores the size of Rhode Island at the end of a day on the beach. Just sayin’. GML approved.

Black Swan.

Yeah yeah yeah…I’m the one person who has been living under a rock and just saw Black Swan.

So, what did I think? Well, it was obviously an incredibly well-done film. The directing, acting, cinematography…it was all spot-on. It was even quite entertaining. But, I definitely wouldn’t say it was one of my favorite movies of all time. Call me crazy (no pun intended), but I sort of prefer movies that don’t leave me feeling slightly depressed after watching them. But that’s just me. Not-so-much GML approved.

Did you see Black Swan? Thoughts?

Luna’s are uhmahzing, and if you throw in almonds I’m sold! I love Clif Bars too but even though they’re not marketed as a candy bar, I feel like they kind of are a glorified candy bar - I still eat them as pre-workout fuel sometimes but more often than not I pick one up as a treat instead of a Hersheys.

Black Swan was so creepy! I saw it in theaters and now that I understand better what’s going on, I’d like to watch it again…but I prob shouldn’t watch it alone! Creepy stuff!

Dark chocolate + almonds = a match made in heaven. I was realllly excited about Black Swan before it came out, but I was kind of disappointed when I left the theatre. It seemed like they sacrificed a lot of good cinematic opportunity for a shock factor.

hahah loved the reviews. I guess I live under a rock too because I still haven’t seen Black Swan..oops.
I’m with you, I would much rather watch something that leaves me feeling happy.

Hahaha that’s so funny that it turned out to be a candy bar! But it has almonds in it, so it has at least some protein in it… you can pretend it’s a protein bar. 😉

I haven’t seen Black Swan yet - I’m waiting until I’m in the mood for a dark movie!

I liked Black Swan a lot. It definitely was disturbing, and it is not one of those movies I will buy and watch repeatedly. Still, though, it was a movie that stayed with me and I am 100% happy that I saw it.

That’s so surprising about the candy bar because I feel like companies usually do anything they can to market their product as an energy bar, not a candy bar! And oh I’ll have to try that sunscreen! I hate it when they are sticky and don’t rub in! And ah, Black Swan was super creepy. I mean it was well done but just so, so disturbing!

I felt the saaaame way after Black Swan. It was a work of art, but not exactly a happy-go-lucky kind of thing. I’ve seen those bars!! And dangggg they look good! I hate greasy grease sunscreen so I am forrrsure going to snoop out a bottle of that stuff.

I second your GML approval rating for Black Swan.

My sister and I saw it back in December, on a night when we planned to keep things chill. You know, dinner out, movies, then home and in bed before 11. Well, the first thing that came out of both our mouths when we left the theatre was “I need a drink.” Needless to say, it depressed us, too. That said, we had a great night out afterwards!

That bar looks really yummy and I love oil free sunscreen since I’m pretty sensitive but I would have to wear at least 30 if not 50 just to be safe! I did not follow the Black Swan craze I have enough worries of my own I don’t need to manifest anymore by watching a movie:)

I SO agree with you. On the Black Swan (that “wtf did I just watch?” feeling), the smell AND texture of sunscreen being so important, annnnnnddd there being no such thing as a bad candy bar. 😉

  11. says

Ugh. I could not finish the Black Swan. It was a little too psycho/depressing. I didn’t like it.
As for sun screen, I hate feeling so oily. I wish there was a dry stuff. I live in the desert so sunscreen is a must, although I am basically guaranteed skin cancer anyway.

  12. says

I pretty much agree with your assessment of Black Swan, it was undeniably good and well-done, though maybe not a favorite movie. I can appreciate how impressive it is, but that doesn’t mean I have to love it.

  13. says

I hated Black Swan. I don’t do horror films, so it really was dumb for me to see it in the first place, but it was way too dark and twisted and creepy for me. I remember leaving the theatre feeling completely traumatized. (Thankfully, I thought I lost my phone right after the movie, so that panic-ridden half hour completely distracted me from my creeped out state haha. Silver lining).

  14. says

Black Swan was messed!! I actually had to Google the storyline of the movie while I was watching it to figure out what the heck was going on… What can I say, I’m a true blonde!! 😛

  15. says

Black Swan was pure artistic genius. And I would never watch it again. I guess I’m just not deep enough, but I also prefer feel good movies :p

I thought Black Swan was a great movie. I loved the acting, the writing, and the directing. It deserved every Oscar nomination that it got. That being said, I agree with Emily. I would never watch it again. Too depressing.
