baby food.

Over the past 36 hours, the majority of my meals have seemingly resembled…baby food. I guess you could say I’ve been making up for lost time since I wanted a mini food processor foreverrrr before finally getting one.

(…because what else would you find on the wish list of a 23-year-old foodie? Duh.)

For a while I couldn’t really think of anything to make other than banana soft serve. There could be worse problems, though.

This particular batch was a winner. I added a handful of walnuts and two medjool dates for a filling afternoon snack.

Last night I decided to let the mini take a shot at something other than a frozen banana. Enter: Evan’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Dessert Hummus.

A sweet hummus? I’d seen a number of recipes around the blog world before, and I was skeptical, to say the least. But seriously…you have to make this. Have to!

It tastes like and has almost the exact consistency of cookie dough.

I ate an entire batch last night while catching up on Gossip Girl. You know, ‘cause that’s what single girls do.

As I was eating this I thought, this is totally one of those foods that make people think I’m a “crazy healthy person” (ahem, hi Dad). But, if crazy means I can eat a filling and nutritious bowl of cookie dough, sign me up.

Have you or would you try a sweet hummus?

Any tips for what else can I make in my (mini) food processor??

sweet hummus ROCKS. there’s a pumpkin version that i’m in love with that involves cinnamon, canned pumpkin, chickpeas, and maple syrup!

    MMM.

you can try a chocolate version with unsweet cocoa powder and splenda, too!

it will rock your socks off!

girl, I got a stand mixer for my 21st birthday and a wok for my 22nd, and went out to dinner at a great restaurant for my 23rd. foodie life=the best.

In your mini processor: Home made laras, avocado pudding, any hummus, sauces like pesto and salsa, raw nut pates..I’m not sure a mini is conducive to making nut butters, I’ve tried it in mine and it takes FOREVER.

Oh, good grief - that cookie dough looks so good it isn’t even fair! I don’t blame you one bit for eating it all! My mini food processor is the perfect appliance for homemade salsa. My husband’s family is hispanic, so we’re all about the Mexican food! I also use it for nut butters and mini larabars like a few others have said. It’s a fab lil invention.

I have been dying to try dessert hummus!! It looks soooo good :)

I got a food processor for Christmas and have been having fun making frozen yogurt-type concoctions. I haven’t ventured too far beyond that, but have also tried making pesto.

I love hummus and cookie dough, so I KNOW I would love cookie dough hummus!

Mama Pea has a great cookie dough larabar receipe. You could probably half the receipe for your mini food processor!

I love the idea of dessert hummus - I so need to try this out!!! My two main uses for my food processor are (1) protein pancakes - mix together 1/4 cup oats, 1/4 cup eggs whites, 1/4 cup cottage cheese and 1 scoop protein power and cook in a pan like a normal pancake for about 2 - 3 minutes per side or (2) my version of ice cream (or pudding) - mix together 1/4 cup cottage cheese, 1/4 cup greek yogurt and 1 scoop of protein powder and then put it in a bowl and eat like pudding or place in the freezer for 20 - 30 minutes and eat like ice cream. Yum yum!!!

Omg. I am making this NOW! THanks for posting this! You always have the best recipes!

I love making fruit sorbet in food processors, if you want to try that. Just put any frozen fruit (~1.5 cups) about 1/4-1/2 cup water and puree! Its so good! I love adding chocolate chips to it! Its delicious, healthy, and low cal!

Yum! I am going to try this!

I like to chop onion in my food porcessor and then freeze it (because I really hate crying when I cut onion so much that I will just not use it and then my cooking seriously suffers)
I also like to make fresh salsa.

so it tastes just as good as cookie dough???
I’m always looking to get more “bang for my buck” when it comes to counting calories I’d rather have an 8oz chobani yogurt than a half scoop of icecream…b/c I get more with my yogurt and it’s nutritious =) win win!

That dessert hummus looks like it could change my life. Not sure if that’s a good thing :)

PS I’m coming to NYC in March..lightly pencil in the weekend of the 20th! Details to come.

ahh, that’s my birthday weekend! we will definitely have to be in touch…can’t promise anything, though, because it’s already quite booked! :/

Glad you liked it so much! Now that the weather is getting better, I should shove some bananas in the freezer for soft serve. I haven’t been able to bring myself to make it in 30 degrees but if we hit 50 who knows? :-)

I saw this recipe but was seriously skeptical…I think you changed my mind and I may have to try it! I’m actually not the hugest hummus fan, so I’ve made garlic white bean dip a few times that I liked more than hummus! I’m not really sure why since it’s basically the same ingredients…it may be in my head?

There is this company called “Crazy Camel” and they make all of these sweet hummus’s like maple, PB, pumpkin so this reminds me of that!

I want to try to make it, it really does look like cookie dough!!!

HAHA! i totally think that all the time. i’m glad i’m not alone… and i’m also glad i can be a health freak/cookie dough freak at the same time.
